Seventh Grade Texas History Curriculum
Calendar
Revised August 2002
This Texas History Curriculum Calendar allows EPISD students to learn about Texas History and their rich local heritage while also building concepts that support the 8th grade TAKS objectives. Correlations between Texas and U.S. history content are listed in bold print under the Focus and the Strategies columns of this scope and sequence. They indicate topics that the teacher should extend to support the 8th grade TAKS objectives. Correlations to this course and U.S. History vocabulary are provided at the back of this document. They are labeled U.S.H. 1-8. The Grade 7 TEKS Glossary and Biographies are also included. Local history topics are listed in italics in the Focus column.
Materials available to implement this Curriculum Calendar include the adopted text, videos listed below, two Pass of the North booklets by Dr. Oscar Martinez, and a separate document entitled EPISD Resource Manual for the 7th Grade Texas History, which contains readings, teacher background information on local history, sample lessons and web sites. Teacher should preview all videos and the Pass of the North video script to use them throughout the course.
