About Us

Ida Steadman is the director of the Coronado High School Orchestra in El Paso, TX. She is a graduate of Texas Western College and completed a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Georgia. She was the principal cellist for the El Paso Symphony Orchestra retiring in 2011 after 50 of sevice. Ida has taught for the El Paso Independent School Disctrict for 46 years.
The Coronado High School Orchestra, under the direction of Ida Steadman, has traveled extensively and performed all over the world. In 1997 the Coronado Orchestra toured Japan giving four concerts including a performaance at Tokyo Disneyland. The orchestra has performed at the Midwest international Band and Orchestra Clinic twice and has also been selected Honor Orchestra by the Texas Music Educators Association three times. The Coronado Orchestra won forst place in 1984 and second and third place trophies in 2000 at the prestigious Youth and Music Festival in Vienna. On June 2, 2007, the orchestra performed for the fourth time in Carnegie Hall, NYC< as an ensemable by Mid America Productions to be featured in its "Ensemble Spotlight Series".
